Our engineers will typically start with a CCTV survey to confirm the problem. If it's a localised blockage in the pipe leading to the soakaway, a high-pressure jet clear can resolve it. If the soakaway pit itself is silted up, it may need excavation and partial replacement of the rubble. We charge for the survey, the clearance time, and any materials like new stone.

Structural Collapse: Soakaways are often old, and the walls or cover can collapse inward, filling the pit with soil and making it useless. This requires full excavation. The cost here is primarily for labour and machinery (like a mini-digger), disposal of the old material, and installation of a new, modern crated soakaway system or a replacement pit. We quote this as a fixed-price project, detailing digger hire, labour hours, and all materials.

System Overload or Ground Saturation: Sometimes, the soakaway hasn't failed structurally; it's just overwhelmed. This can happen if extensions were added, increasing the roof area, or if the ground itself becomes permanently waterlogged.
